物事を違う角度から見ることは、日常を変えることにつながります。私は、対話や観察を通し、何かいつもの状態を反転させよう、何か再解釈できるものはないか、と探しながら設計しています。そうして驚きと新鮮さをちりばめた建築が、次第に生活に定着することを考えています。定着するには、驚きが大きければ大きいほど、人が寄りつき安心できる設えが不可欠です。そのため、殊のほか、拠り所となる空間をつくることには執着しています。

Seeing things from a different perspective has the power to transform our daily lives. Through dialogue and observation, I design by seeking to invert the ordinary and find what can be reinterpreted. My aim is to create architecture sprinkled with surprise and freshness that gradually becomes a fixture of everyday life. For a building to truly settle in, the greater the sense of wonder it evokes, the more essential it is to also create a setting where people feel safe and at ease. Therefore, I am particularly committed to crafting spaces that serve as a true place of refuge.
一級建築士。1982年カナダバンクーバー生まれ東京都育ち。2000年お茶の水女子大学附属高等学校卒業、2006-2007年リヒテンシュタイン国立大学エリア・ゼンゲリススタジオ所属。2008年東京藝術大学修士課程修了。在学中にトウキョウ建築コレクション全国修士設計展グランプリを受賞。2009-2017年青木淳建築計画事務所(現AS)勤務後、2018年に大島アトリエ設立。

Licensed Architect. Born in Vancouver, Canada, in 1982, and raised in Tokyo. Graduated from Ochanomizu University Senior High School in 2000. Studied at the Studio of Elias Zenghelis at the University of Liechtenstein from 2006 to 2007. Completed the Master's Program at Tokyo University of the Arts in 2008. During her studies, she received the Grand Prix at the Tokyo Architectural Collection National Master's Thesis Exhibition. After working at Jun Aoki & Associates (now AS) from 2009 to 2017, she established Oshima Atelier in 2018.
